Here are the winners of the 2010 Eastern Christian New Media Awards! The voting numbers were again quite a jump from the preceding year - a trend we are happy to see. Thanks again to all for making this such a success. Please take the time to visit these sites as well as those of the nominees. A complete nominees list will be made available shortly.

In the next few days the nominations will be reviewed, the voting system will be populated with candidates, and then the voting process will start. This is the final week to nominate your favorite site, forum, or podcast. Some nominees have received numerous (in one case over a hundred) nominations. Thanks in part to the new Facebook page we've had quite a good turnout. If you have a blog, please take a moment to mention the Awards. The primary goal of this effort is to bring a higher profile to the Eastern Churches and spotlight those sites that do so effectively. Though, I'm told, the prizes are also appreciated.

Nominations are now open! To nominate an entrant simply click on one of the below links. Multiple nominations are welcomed and encouraged. Nominations aren't votes, this is putting people on the ballot to be voted on later (during the voting phase). We will be accepting participants until October 31^st. The categories this year have expanded by two since 2009. As with last year, there will be prizes!

Today we will tabulate votes and confirm results. After they have been contacted, the winners will be announced. By popular demand the nominees will be posted shortly. Thanks to all the people who took the time to submit a nomination and the many hundreds of people who voted.

Voting continues at a breakneck pace with hundreds of people having made their opinions known. We expect to close the voting phase June 8^th barring any unforeseen technical difficulties. After that some human oversight will verify the voting numbers, the winners will be contacted, and then announcements will be made. The nominating phase has ended and the categories are ready. Voting will open up later today. As expected, the last week saw a drop-off in nominations, but with some fields already full to the brim the races should be quite competitive.

Week three saw some nominations in previously under-nominated categories, which was a welcome occurrence. Everything is on schedule and pointing to a well attended voting phase.

The second week proved to be even more fruitful than the first. Thanks in large part to the postings of individual bloggers, the nominations went through the roof. We now have over 100 selections to choose from. Some blogs and podcasts have received over 50 nominations. Keep the nominations coming!

Pondering opening up submissions for the Eastern Christian Blog Awards under the new title 'Eastern Christian New Media Awards' to include podcasts and the like. Some podcasters from Ancient Faith Radio and elsewhere have asked whether they could be included this go round. Thoughts on the new name, broadening the field, or how to improve this year's event are welcomed and encouraged!

Voting to begin in May

We expect to open up voting shortly and will send an email (where possible) or put a comment in the bloggers' comment boxes to let them know the game is afoot. We'd also like to ask for some more submissions for the "funniest" category. Even the most occasional reader of Eastern Christian blogs knows that there aren't that many comically-minded blogs out there and we need help finding them.

Many submissions came in over the weekend. We're glad to see the continued interest and hope the nominations will keep rolling in. Interestingly, no one area holds a dominant position on nominations; they are coming in from Singapore, the UK, Africa, and many other far flung lands. Based on the current rate of submissions, we're on schedule for voting to begin the first week of May.

The submissions are rolling in, if a bit unevenly. So far we've received about 10 site recommendations. I've moved the awards categories to the sidebar so I can post updates without moving the listing ever lower. Please keep the submissions coming and don't hesitate to send multiple entries per field.
